Applies to: Financio Accounting (Malaysia)
LHDN runs a Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme (SVDP). It lets you submit an e-Invoice you should have sent earlier, without a penalty, by submitting it as version 1.3 instead of the usual 1.1. Financio now lets you do this from the document itself. This article shows how.
| Note: Financio does not decide whether you qualify for the SVDP, and it does not check your invoice dates. Only you know that. Use the option at your own discretion, and see LHDN's guidance for the conditions. |
Before you start
- LHDN e-Invoice is enabled for your company (Business Profile > Enable LHDN E-Invoice).
- The customer or supplier has a valid TIN and Reg No. on their contact card.
Submit an invoice, credit note or debit note under the SVDP
- Go to Sales > Create New and choose Invoice, Credit Note or Debit Note. You can also open an existing one that has not been sent.
- In the LHDN E-INVOICE (CUSTOMER INFO) section, turn Send to LHDN on.
- Tick Submit under the Special Voluntary Disclosure Programme (SVDP). It sits just below the Send to LHDN toggle and is unticked every time.
- Click Save.
- A Confirmation window shows the document, the version and the submission date. Click Yes to submit.
Clicking No cancels the save. Nothing is sent to LHDN and you stay on the document.
The checkbox only appears when Send to LHDN is on. If you turn the toggle off, the tick is cleared.
| Note: If you do not tick the SVDP box, Financio submits the document as version 1.1 straight away, with no confirmation window, exactly as before. If you meant to tick SVDP and forgot, the document goes as 1.1. After sending you cannot change the version. |
If the document is a Draft or Proforma
- Draft: you can turn on Send to LHDN and tick SVDP, and both are kept on the Draft. Saving the Draft sends nothing. The submission happens when you approve it: click ⋮ > Mark As > Approve, then Yes on Financio's approval question. The SVDP Confirmation window then appears, unless you turned it off. Clicking No there keeps the document as a Draft.
- Proforma: Send to LHDN is not available on a Proforma, so the SVDP box does not show. Approve the document first.
Stop seeing the confirmation window
If you submit many documents under the SVDP in one sitting, tick Do not show this confirmation again in the window, then click Yes.
- The setting is saved only when you click Yes. If you tick it and click No, nothing changes.
- It applies to every later SVDP submission you make, on every document type. Approving a Draft with SVDP ticked also skips the window and submits as 1.3.
- It hides the window only. An SVDP document is still submitted as version 1.3. It is never saved without being sent.
Submit a purchase document under the SVDP
The same checkbox is on purchase Bill, Credit Note and Debit Note. It sits in the LHDN E-INVOICE (SUPPLIER INFO) section, below that section's Send to LHDN toggle. Purchase documents are sent to LHDN as self-billed, so turn Self-Billed on first. Send to LHDN cannot be turned on until it is.
Submit a consolidated e-Invoice under the SVDP
- Go to Sales > Create New > Consolidated E-Invoice.
- Click Add New. Choose the Month (a single calendar month) and click Filter.
- Tick the records to include, then click Consolidate.
- Back on the consolidated record, tick the SVDP checkbox under the LHDN E-INVOICE heading, above Items, then click Save and confirm with Yes.
The SVDP box is on the record only, not in the selection window. The box in the window explains the rules:
- One consolidated e-Invoice covers a single calendar month, up to 100 records.
- Records above RM10,000 are not listed. Send each one as its own e-Invoice.
- Submit within 7 days of month end. If you are submitting later than that, tick SVDP on the record before saving. For example, January's consolidation must be submitted by 7 February.
After you submit
Once a document has been sent as SVDP:
- A blue SVDP badge appears beside the LHDN status at the top of the document, in every status: Submitted, Valid, Invalid and Cancelled. Hover over it to see the word SVDP.
- The same badge appears in the LHDN Status column of the Sales list.
- The SVDP checkbox stays on the document but is greyed out. It shows the version that was sent and cannot be changed.
- Print LHDN e-Invoice (click ⋮ on the document) shows the version sent in its e-Invoice version field: 1.3 for an SVDP document, 1.1 otherwise.
If LHDN does not accept the document
The LHDN Status window (click the > beside the LHDN status) shows what LHDN decided. If LHDN marks the document Invalid, it lists the reason in red, word for word. The SVDP badge stays on the document. Financio does not quietly resend the document as 1.1, so you are never left thinking you disclosed something you did not.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Financio check that my invoice qualifies for the SVDP?
A: No. The checkbox is available on every invoice you can send. Whether you qualify is your decision.
Q: I ticked SVDP by mistake. Can I change it?
A: Before you save, untick it. After the document is sent, the version cannot be changed.
Q: Why did I not see the confirmation window?
A: Either you did not tick SVDP (a normal 1.1 submission has no window), or you ticked Do not show this confirmation again earlier.
Q: Why does the SVDP badge show on a document that is Invalid or Cancelled?
A: The badge shows how the document was sent, not what LHDN made of it, so it appears in every status after submission.
Q: Is there an SVDP column or filter in my lists?
A: No. The badge appears in the existing LHDN Status column.
