Guide to Registering as a Sole Proprietor "Business Owner" on LHDN MyTax Portal for e-Invoice Submission

Introduction

This registration is a new requirement from LHDN for sole proprietors who intend to submit e-invoices using their Business Registration Number (BRN) 
 
This process effectively links your individual Tax Identification Number (TIN) (which begins with 'IG') to your business. 
 
Required Details for Application:

To complete the application, you will need the following information:

• Registration No. Type: Business Registration Number (BRN)
• Registration No.: Your Sole Proprietorship's Business Registration Number
• TIN: Your Personal Tax Identification Number (e.g., IG1234567890)

 
Step-by-Step Application Process for Business Owner Role in MyTax Portal

Follow these instructions to successfully register as the Business Owner of your sole proprietorship within the MyTax Portal::

• Log in to MyTax: Access the MyTax Portal by visiting https://mytax.hasil.gov.my/ and log in to your account. If the Business Owner role has not yet been assigned, you will initially only see 'Individual' listed under the Role Selection.
  
• Access Profile Information: Click on the 'Profile' icon located in the top right corner of the page. This will direct you to your profile information, where you can initiate the Business Owner role application.
  
• Navigate to Role Application Tab: Select the third tab, which is labeled 'Role Application.'
  
  
  
• Complete Application Details: 

1. Choose 'New Application'.
2. Set the 'Type of Role' to 'Business Owner'.
3. Enter your personal TIN.
4. Click "Upload" to attach a copy of your business registration certificate. If a business registration certificate is not available, you may upload a copy of your identification card instead.
5. Tick the acknowledgment box to confirm the accuracy of the details provided.
6. Click ‘Submit.’

• Sign and Submit: Upon submission, a signature view will appear. Please follow the prompts to digitally sign your application.      
  
• Await Approval: After successfully completing the digital signature, a success notification will be displayed. You will receive an email notification regarding the outcome of your role application. 

Once approved, the ‘Business Owner’ role will be available for selection from the role list on your MyTax dashboard.
