Previously, Calculate Salary always recalculated the entire company, even for a small change to just one or two employees. From this release, you can choose to calculate for All Employees, by Department, or for Selected Employee(s) only, so a small change no longer means waiting for a full recalculation.
What is Selective Salary Calculation?
Selective Salary Calculation is an enhancement to the Salary Calculation screen in Financio Payroll that lets you choose which employees are calculated, instead of always calculating the entire company. It is designed to save time for companies with a large headcount when only a small change needs to be reflected in payroll.
Previously, clicking Calculate Salary always calculated the entire company, even if you only adjusted a pay item for one or two employees. With this enhancement, you can now select a calculation scope before calculating. Key points to note:
- All Employees: Calculates every employee in the payroll period, same behaviour as before.
- By Department: Calculates only employees belonging to the department(s) you select.
- Selected Employee: Recalculates only the specific employee(s) you pick.
Calculation logic is unchanged; only the scope of who gets recalculated is new. Employees outside the selected scope keep their existing figures untouched.
How to Use Selective Salary Calculation
Refer to the steps below to calculate salary for selected employees or a department:
Step 1. Go to Payroll > Salary Calculation and open the active payroll period. The Salary Master screen looks the same as before, as it always shows the latest calculated amounts for the full payroll.
Step 2. Open the detail Salary Calculation screen. You will see the new calculation scope selector with the three options.
Step 3. Choose your scope:
- All Employees - calculates everyone in the payroll period.
- By Department - pick the department(s); only employees belonging to those departments are calculated.
- Selected Employee - tick the individual employee(s) whose pay items you changed.
Step 4. Click Calculate Salary. Only the employees in your selected scope are calculated, and everyone else keeps their existing figures. The Salary Master screen and the Employee List update to show the latest amounts after every calculation.
Good to Know
- Calculating a salary refreshes those employees' figures based on their current timesheets and employee information, so make sure your changes (pay items, timesheets) are saved before calculating.
- The Salary Master screen always shows one set of latest figures per employee; recalculating selected employees simply updates their rows in place.
- For a small change affecting one or two employees, use Selected Employee, as it is the fastest option and leaves the rest of the payroll untouched.
