Module: Dashboard > Analytical Reports
What's New
Two new filters have been introduced on the Analytical Reports dashboard to give payroll users greater flexibility in analyzing workforce and payroll data. Previously, only the Analytical View filter was available. With this release, users can now slice dashboard data by Department and Employee Type.
New Filters:
| Department | Filter all dashboard charts and metrics by a specific department (e.g. Sales Department). |
| Employee Type | Filter data by employment category (e.g. Permanent, Contract, Part-Time). |
These filters work in combination with the existing Analytical View filter (time-based) to provide a more targeted and meaningful view of:
- Headcount by Month
- Turnover Rate
- Gender Percentage
- Service Year Percentage
- OT Pay
- YTD Company Cost
Impact
- No existing functionality has been removed or changed.
- All existing dashboard widgets respond dynamically to the new filter selections.
- Filters are applied simultaneously — users can combine all three filters at once.
Step-by-Step Guide for Payroll Users
Accessing the Analytical Reports Dashboard
- Log in to Financio Payroll with your payroll user credentials.
- On the top-right of the home screen, click the "Analytical Reports" button (located next to the "Dashboard" button).
- The Analytical Reports dashboard will load, displaying all workforce and payroll charts.
Using the Analytical View Filter (Existing)
- At the top of the dashboard, locate the "Analytical View" dropdown on the left.
- Click the dropdown and select your desired time period (e.g. Current Year, Past 3 Years).
- All dashboard charts will refresh to reflect the selected time range.
Using the New Department Filter (New in v2.11.6)
- Next to the Analytical View filter, locate the "Department" dropdown labelled "Department".
- Click the dropdown and select the department you wish to analyse (e.g. Sales Department).
- All dashboard charts — including Headcount, Turnover Rate, OT Pay, and YTD Company Cost — will update to show data for the selected department only.
💡 Tip: Select a specific department to compare headcount trends or cost data across months for that team alone.
Using the New Employee Type Filter (New in v2.11.6)
- To the right of the Department filter, locate the "Employee Type" dropdown.
- Click the dropdown and select the employment category you wish to view (e.g. Permanent, Casual Labour, etc.).
- The dashboard will refresh to display data relevant to the selected employee type only.
💡 Tip: Use the Employee Type filter together with the Department filter to drill down into specific workforce segments, such as permanent staff within the Sales Department.
Combining All Three Filters
- To get the most targeted view, apply all three filters together:
- Set Analytical View → e.g. Current Year
- Set Department → e.g. Sales Department
- Set Employee Type → e.g. Permanent
- The dashboard will display results matching all selected criteria across all widgets simultaneously.
- To reset your view, change any filter back to its default (all-inclusive) option.
Notes & Reminders
- Only departments and employee types that exist in your company setup will appear in the dropdowns.
- If a chart shows 0 values or no data after filtering, it may indicate no record exists for that combination of filters in the selected year — this is an expected behaviour.
- Filter selections are not saved between sessions; you will need to reapply them each time you access the dashboard.
